So, how does it work?
Origin Aqua’s cost-effective Mineral+Biome system is based on the science behind natural swimming lakes – creating mineralised water that is sanitised and enhanced by the same residual minerals, beneficial bacteria, and “water in, water out” flow system found in pristine natural lakes.
The beneficial microbes – “good bacteria” – out-compete dangerous pathogens in a process named “biological predation” that leads to the creation of healthy, crystal-clear water that is pure enough to drink (although we wouldn’t recommend this as you’d have no water left in which to swim!).
Notably, in June 2022, Origin Aqua published ground-breaking scientific research in Nature Magazine (the world’s leading multidisciplinary science journal), which unequivocally proves its filter technology destroys common pathogens found in pools, such as e-coli, Pseudomas and Enrtochocci via the process of ‘biological predation’ and key nutrient starvation.

Handily, virtually any swimming pool with an existing plant room can be fitted with, or upgraded to, the Mineral+Biome system, which has been designed and developed in the UK over a ten-year period by microbiologists at University of West England and Cranfield University.
Eco-friendly
This chlorine-free system uses 50% less energy and has 50% less water usage compared to chlorine disinfection. Customers who choose the eco-friendly Origin Aqua system can therefore enjoy lower pool running costs whilst benefiting the environment.

“The pool water needs to be recirculated through our filter system three times in every 24 hours compared to a standard chlorine filter system’s recirculation frequency of six to eight times in 24 hours. So, energy is saved because the pump is not running as much. That’s really the simple answer.”
He adds that the Origin Aqua system sees the pool filter cleaned via automated backwash method that uses considerably less water than that of a traditional chlorine system.
The Origin Aqua system is suited to both indoor and outdoor pools – and, for those who prefer warmer temperatures, the water can be heated up to 30°C. Moreover, it’s low maintenance and fully automated – requiring just two technical visits per year and a robot for weekly pool cleaning.
